Marcom 1700 W. Caldwell Visalia, CA 93277 FD 2129 If you haven't preplanned your Now is the perfect time to start How do I pre-arrange my funeral? Can I pay in advance? Where would I get the money to pay for this now? The world has lost a true gentleman. Carl O. Lindahl passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 1, 2013. Carl just celebrated his 91st birthday with friends and family on Sunday, May 26th.

As all held up their glasses, Carl offered up a Swedish 'toast', a hint to his heritage he held dear through the years. Although born in New Jersey, his Swedish parents moved back to Gravnas, Sweden with Carl for several of his childhood years. He returned to the U.S., and graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology with a BS degree in mechanical engineering. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an "Engineering Officer He was assigned to the Pacific in New Guinea, the Philippines, and China, and returned home after 1945 to meet the woman he was to share his next 50 years with, Frances (Zahyna) Lindahl.

With his beloved Fran, he brought four children into this world Ruth, Carla, Chuck, and Ken. Carl held various engineering positions with U.S. Motors and Kohlenberger before moving to Visalia in the mid-60's to start his own industrial refrigeration business, Cooling Systems. With his entrepreneurial spirit and his love of ice skating and hockey that was cultivated in his Swedish roots, he opened Visalia' first open-air ice-skating rink, Icelandia, on December 17, 1968. All the wonderful workings of the ice-skating business led Fran and Carl to build a second ice-skating rink in Fresno, opening December 1975.

Carl and Fran retired from the ice-rink life in 1986. Carl considered himself semi-retired, continuing his involvement in personal business opportunities, as well as spending quality time with family, keeping fit at Lifestyles, and frequent traveling. Carl was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Fran, in 1998. He will he dearly missed by his daughters, Ruth (Gary) Wilson of Creston and Carla (David) Mulford of Ventura; sons, Chuck (Ronda) Lindahl and Ken (Darlene) Lindahl, both of Visalia; grandchildren, Cathi, Jim, Cade, Taryn, Kendra, Laine, Kayla, Rylin, Jamee, and six great-grandchildren.
