She resided at Quail Park Retirement Village in Visalia, Calif. Marge relocated from Santa Barbara, in June 2003 to Visalia to be near her daughter, Clare Cannell Whitlatch. Marge, who was a native Californian, had an early California heritage. Her grandfather, Don Mateo Keller, was one of the first to grow cotton in California near where the University of Southern California presently stands; additionally, he was the first American owner of the Malibu Ranch in 1857.

Marge has compiled her family history a and donated it to the archives of the Huntington Library in San Marino, Calif. Marge was born on June 29, 1910, in Los Angeles, to Henry and Adelaine Keller. She was the youngest of eight children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her seven siblings, her husband of 61 years, Samuel Bartley Cannell, who passed away in August 1996; her daughter-in-law, Jonelle Cannell, who passed away in April 2005. Marge graduated from Marymount High School in Westwood, in 1928.

When she passed, she was the oldest living alumnus of Marymount High School where, annually, she was graciously invited to the reunions. In 1932, she graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, as a member of the first class graduate at UCLA's present location. Marge and her husband, Bart, reared three children while residingin Pasadena. In 1985, some years subsequent to Bart's retirement as the of Cannell Chaffin Furniture in Los Angeles, the couple moved to Santa Barbara. Bart and Marge didn't really retire because they opened The Bird on the Bough, an antique store, which they owned and operated for eight years.

Marge will always be remembered and appreciated for her sense of humor, her love of gardening, creative flower arrangements, her generosity to charitable organizations and for educating her grandchildren. In 1969, she opened gift shop in Pasadena, specializing in flower-arrangement accessories, named The Green House, which continues in business even today. Marge's goal was that all proceeds from The Green House would be donated to the Children's Hospital Los Angeles. To this date, all Green House staff volunteer their time at The Green House. As a result of Marge's determination, creativity and generosity, thousands of dollars have gone to benefit the Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Calif.

Until she passed away, Marge continued to make things for sale at The Green House. Marge was the loved matriarch of the family. Her upbeat attitude and laughter made it a pleasure to be in her presence or to be in contact with her. She was continuously showered with calls and cards from her friends and family. Anyone open to a round of golf or bridge, would find challenged by her.

Survivors are her three children: Samuel Bartley Cannell III, of Anderson, Frederick Cannell of Colusa, and Clare Cannell Whitlatch and husband, Bill, of Visalia; nine grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Baker of Pasadena. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff of Quail Park Retirement Village for their care in attending to Marge, and supporting Clare, during Marge's final days. Hospice of Tulare County deserves a big thank you, too, for their services and working closely with Quail Park for continuity of care. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m.
