SPAR FDIC ADVANCE-REGISTER, Tulare, Friday, Dec. 19, 1980 7 News capsule The county Cleanup ordered of Fresno waste FRESNO The state's Hazardous Waste Management Section has ordered a cleanup of industrial wastes at a six-acre site south of Fresno. State investigators found quantities of lead, zinc, copper and the dangerous substance known as PCB, all in excess of state limits. The property was purchased by Fresnan William Enns for $35,000 at a tax sale last year but Enns' ownership is being challenged in an Oakland bankruptcy court. State officials said the cleanup project has stalled over who should pay the cleanup bill, which could run as high as $2 million.

Thieves take antiques EXETER Thieves smashed a window to gain entrance to the Exeter home of Mabel Bishop Thursday night. They fled with three antique clocks, an antique cash register, a television set and Christmas gifts valued at $9,300. The woman was not at home at the time of the burglary. The valley Boat capsizes at San Luis LOS BANOS Two men survived when a boat capsized on the San Luis Reservoir Thursday, but another remained missing. Merced County Sheriff's deputies said Barry Rena and Fernando Salas swam ashore after their 16-foot boat overturned in rough water.

They were taken to a Los Banos hospital for observation. A third man, whose name was not released, disappeared and is presumed drowned. California Bowl tickets expensive FRESNO Ticket prices for the first California Bowl, to be held one year from today in the new Fresno State University Stadium, are going to be expensive. FSU officials Thursday announced prices will range from $12 to $18. The first bowl game will match the winner of the PCAA and the Mid-American Conference.

The beneficiary of those expensive tickets will be Valley Children's Hospital. Smog heaviest in years FRESNO There may not have been much fog in the Central Valley Thursday, but there was plenty of smog. The Fresno County Health Department said the air pollution reading in the valley was the highest since December of 1977, when a dust storm was blown in by a hurricane from Baja California. Officials said a low inversion layer and lots of smoke from fireplace fires added to Thursday's problem. Weather TULARE WEATHER Tulare daybook Temperatures Today: 33 low.
