A. R. M-IIIIKW 1IAS The telephone operators dance held in the municipal auditorium Thursday evening proved all that had been anticipated. Large crowds of dancers were present all through the evening and a merry time was had by all. Dancing was preceded by a concert by the Visalia Concert Band, after which James M.

Burke gave a brief talk on strike conditions In Visalia and those elsewhere Influencing the local situation. He was followed by Joe E. Joseph, who sang several pleasing selections, the band accompanying him. Receipts from the dance proved satisfactory and will be used to defray expenses of operators during the strike period. C.

Whitney consumers will not obtain fully the class of scrtice which the company promised at the hearing. The commission has, however, given this matter careful consideration and has concluded that its duty to the general service in the entire San Joaquin Valley is to make possible the full use of all facilities of the electric utilities so that no drastic action would be necessary on the company's part in discontinuing consumers, the result of which would probably be a greater loss to the San Joaquin valley in total than the inconvenience which would result from a few additional interruptions on the Mt. Whitney system. We are certain that the consumers of the Mt. Whitney company- will be fully in accord with this position.

Answering the complaints against the form of rates in effect, on the Mt. Whitney system, the commission directed the adoption of an optional meter rate, to be effective until such time as the commission makes a final determination in the matter of a revised basis for billing power. In the meantime, the, commission will investigate all spechU complaints. Member of U. S.
